Scores on the golf course

Q: the two town golf course, Springdale and Lincoln hills, get a tavern license in order to increase revenue because they both lose money. If that doesn’t work, what’s next?

I think I understand the history of why it makes sense. I don’t think it’s always been the city’s policy to make this golf independently. I think the city has a long history subsidize them. But times are tough and there is pressure to make them self-sufficient. That needs some changes, but this past holiday has become a handcuff that we cannot escape from. If we leave them really, really doubt we could recover revenue.

Part of the attraction of the golf course itself. Reduce the level of maintenance on the course can affect how much people are willing to come and play it. This is an interesting and unique problems. I also think for the most part, it is an issue of advertising and marketing. It is something the City Government in general are not doing very well. It is not our business. We talked about doing a deal coupon last year and we may be bringing it back for consideration this year.

This is another case where we can’t keep doing the same thing over and over again. We have to try something new. And not everything may be successful. Might be a miserable failure, but at least we tried.
